Pupil Leadership

Leadership opportunities are a key part of the way our pupils 'learn for life'.

School Council

The School Council is made up of 2 representatives from each class from Year 1 to Year 6.  The representatives are elected by their class and are proud to represent their class throughout the year. The School Council have regular meetings to discuss ways to improve our school,  and they also organise events to raise money for different charities throughout the year, for example the annual Children in Need event.

Eco-Warriors

At Beech Hyde Primary School and Nursery, we understand the importance of looking after our environment.  The Eco Warriors are the school’s eco committee comprising of 2 representatives from each class from Year 1 to Year 6. Throughout the year, the Eco Warriors organise and take part in a range of activities to encourage the school community to recycle, save energy and water and look after their local environment as well as increasing everyone’s awareness of global environmental issues.

Friendship Leaders (Buddy)

Kindness and care for each other are key Beech Hyde traits. Therefore 2 Friendship leaders are selected from each class in Years 1-5 to ensure that there is always someone looking out for everyone. They alert an adult if they feel someone is struggling and promote kindness among their class. They also take part in discussions about promoting the schools anti-bullying culture.

Sports Leaders

Beech Hyde is committed to 'Active 60' - being active for at least 60 minutes everyday. Class sports leaders - two in each class Y1-5 promote this message, help with activities and ensure the class takes part in their daily mile.

Year 6 Leadership Roles

As the most senior pupils in the school, Year 6 get the opportunity to be House Captains, Sports Ambassadors, Librarians and Playground Leaders in addition to their roles on the School Council and as Eco-Warriors.

Ambition Education Trust

Our trust is composed of 10 schools situated in Hertfordshire, across St Albans, Welwyn Garden City and Hemel Hempstead. There are five primary and five secondary schools, with over 800 staff delivering high-quality education to 7500 young people from the ages 3 to 18. This is a huge privilege and one we take seriously, to achieve our central aim of Educational Excellence for All.
